Why is that we, as Filipino-Americans, have been reduced to and depicted as individualistic “Illipino Swag” obsessed hypebeasts? It goes as far as our third world equivalents representing the Motherland in the Olympics being mocked at for not wearing snapbacks and Obey shirts. Joke? I ain’t laughing. Serious? Yes I am. You may find it inappropriate for me to speak when it may seem true, but you’re targeting a small part of our community then generalizing the rest. We are a people rich in history and culture, and to see us reduced to such a state is disheartening.
